If quality local produce, artisan items, crafts and hand-made gifts aren’t on your Christmas wish list, they should be.
Here we’ve compiled a list of the Bega Valley’s remaining market days between now and the big day.
Each will have a wonderful selection of the best local gift ideas this region has to offer and should be essential shopping destinations for those last-minute presents.
BERMAGUI
Fishermen’s Wharf Growers Market, every Thursday from 3-5pm. (December 1, 8, 15 and 22).
Selling fresh seafood and local produce such as dairy, breads, fruit and veg and also enjoy a bite to eat with ready to go food available until 6pm.
BEGA
SCPA-South East Producers Farmers Market, every Friday 8am until 1pm, Littleton Gardens (December 2. 9 and 23 – SPCA will have a stall at the Bega Block Party on Thursday night, December 15, so will not hold a Friday morning market that week).
Fruit and veg, local honey, olives and olive products, hand-made baked goods, food stalls, chai tent and seed savers.
COBARGO
Laneway market, every Saturday from 9am until 1pm. (December 3, 10, 17 and 24).
Selling locally grown produce (fruits and veg), cakes, household objects and more.
NETHERCOTE
Market and community Christmas party. Nethercote Hall, Back Creek Rd, Saturday, December 3, from 4pm.
Santa arrives at 4.30pm and will present gifts to children (BYO gift to go in Santa’s sack at the hall up to maximum value $20).
Kids’ games, tug-o-war, buffet dinner and music into the night.
Bring a plate – mains dish (cold meat/salad) or dessert to share. There will be icecream for the children.
CANDELO
Sunday, December 4, from 8.30am until 12.30pm.
One of the longest running markets on the Sapphire Coast with a strong focus on local and vintage wares. It is a wonderfully diverse market, with stallholders selling everything from food, plants, clothing, livestock and second-hand goods.
PAMBULA
Pambula Sports Ground, Narregol St, Sunday, December 11, 8am until 1pm.
Dog friendly, loaded with local produce and everything from handmade jewellery and clothing to vintage trash’n’treasure.
EDEN
Local produce market, Garden of Eden, Chandos St, Saturday, December 17, 8.30am until noon
Specialising in local produce, it’s a delightful place to explore, and a great place to learn about permaculture and enjoy a healthy tea break with live music.
MERIMBULA
Seaside Market, Ocean Drive, Sunday, December 18, 8am until 12.30pm
Held by the seaside on a spacious, grassy oval at Fishpen. There are loads of stalls to choose from including local produce, plants, clothing and jewellery, craft and tasty food. The market is dog friendly, and there’s a wonderful, highly accessible playground at the southern end.
WYNDHAM
The Village Market is usually held on the fourth Sunday of every month. But with Christmas Day on the Sunday, a special Boxing Day market is planned for Monday, December 26. Call Yvonne to book a stall on 64 942 443.
