Run as part of Bega Valley’s Mental Health Month, the Remembrance Motorbike Ride began in Bega and ended at Pambula Rivermouth.
At the end of the ride, the bikers threw flowers into the river and reflected on the lives of friends lost through suicide, traffic accidents, cancer or anything else.
“It’s just a good thing to start,” rider Tammi Cameron of Wolumla said.
“Everybody’s lost someone through something.”
Philip Bartholomew of Bega, who said mental health awareness had come a long way from what it was, attended the ride with Andrew Whittington of Bemboka.
“I’ve had a few friends die from motorbike accidents, so it is a good way to do a tribute to them,” Mr Whittington said.
Organiser Glen Cotter said it was the first time the ride had taken place and it would run again.
“It’s always said riding is therapy, but riding with your mates is group therapy,” Mr Cotter said.
