A NOTE FROM NSW POLICE
Police are urging Racegoers to plan their trip ahead of time as they make their way to Mount Panorama this week for the annual Bathurst 1000 championship event.
A high-visibility policing operation will be in place from Thursday 6 October to Sunday 9 October 2016, for the much-anticipated V8 Supercars event, the Supercheap AutoBathurst 1000.
General Duties officers from Chifley Local Area Command, and across Western Region, will be assisted by specialist officers and will focus on road safety as well as anti-social behaviour.
Western Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Geoff McKechnie, urged racegoers to plan their journey to Mount Panorama ahead of time and take extra care on the road.
“We are expecting more than 200,000 visitors to Bathurst this weekend, so we’re urging motorists to be extremely vigilant on the roads and be mindful of their speed, fatigue and driving behaviour,” Assistant Commissioner McKechnie said.

OFF TRACK ENTERTAINMENT
WEDNESDAY: Supercar Driver and Transporter Parade
The Supercar Transporter Parade can be watched from the street as the trucks and drivers make their way up William Street to Kings Parade.
Time: 11.30am - 2.30pm
WEDNESDAY: Driver Signing
Meet the stars of the Supercars Championship at the official off-track drivers autograph signing session. There will be kids activities, V8 utes, the B-Rock BBQ and much more.
Where: Kings Parade (Russell Street)
Time: Session one will run from 12.15pm followed by the winners presentation at 1pm. Session two will run from 1.15pm.
THURSDAY: The National Motor Racing Museum Legendary Moments Dinner

Come down to Kings Parade to meet Mack the Transporter and his famous Friend Lightning McQueen from the Disney Movie CARS2. SATURDAY / SUNDAY: Bottle-O Cheerleaders performance
After wowing the audience in Darwin, The Bottle-O Cheerleaders will be back performing on the track in Bathurst. The Bottle-O Cheerleaders will be around all weekend, so make sure you stop them to say hello!
The Bottle-O Cheerleaders will perform in Merchandise Alley.

SATURDAY / SUNDAY: RAAF F18 Flyover
Cast your eyes skywards to see the RAAF FA-18 Hornet flyover Mount Panorama at incredible speeds on Saturday and Sunday. And be prepared for the unforgettable noise that follows. Make sure you’ve got your ear plugs handy, you’ll need them!

Visit the tribute to the undisputed King of the Mountain “Peter Brock’ as we mark 10 years since he passed away. Come and see some of his iconic cars that will be assembled for an unprecedented exhibition.
17 vehicles ranging from the very first ‘Paddock Basher’ he raced around the family home, then the1972 Torana GTR XU1, 1982 / 83 Bathurst winning car, the 1990 Mobil Ford Sierra, and all the way up to 1996 Mobil HRT Commodore will be on show. It’s a display of racing nostalgia for fans to reminisce and admire the King of the Mountain.

ROAD CLOSURES
WEDNESDAY: Transporter Parade Marshal Area
- This event will require closure of Durham Street between Havannah Street and Kendall Avenue (GWH) from 6.00am to 11.45am with no traffic movement until reopening at 11.45am.
- Temporary No Parking signage will be on both sides of the street and is to be in place by 4.00pm Tuesday, 4 October.
- Transporter trucks make their way through the streets, with spectators encouraged to line the streets and cheer the trucks on their way to the Mount.
WEDNESDAY: Driver signing
- This event will require the closure of Russell Street between William Street and George Street from 5.00am until 6.00pm on Wednesday 5 October 2016.
- Temporary No Parking signage will be on both sides of the street and is to be in place by 4.00pm Tuesday, 4 October.
- The event includes driver signing sessions and an exhibition of V8 racing cars along with the B-Rock BBQ.
- Temporary relocation of the 33m Russell Street Taxi Rank to Church Street (between George and William Streets) taking up 6 parallel car parking spaces from 5.00am to 6.00pm Wednesday 5 October. The temporary Taxi Rank is to be of the same dimensions as the permanent rank.
SATURDAY: Saturday Street Fair
- This event will require the closure of Russell Street and Church Street between William Street and George Street from 5.00am to 10.00pm Saturday 8 October.
- Temporary No Parking signage will be on both sides of the street and is to be in place by 4.00pm Friday, 7 October.
- The Saturday Street Fair will be held from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday, 8 October, in King’s Parade (Russell Street) and the closure allows for set up and dismantling of a stage, rides and other activities. The activities within the CBD will also require a temporary Bus Zone to be created in George Street next to Machattie Park from 8.00am Monday, 3 October, to midnight Sunday, 9 October.

These bus zones are proposed to operate from Thursday morning to Sunday night.
