As part of the state budget, member for Bega, Andrew Constance has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to Eden with funding confirmed for the Port of Eden redevelopment as well as a new fire station.
Mr Constance announced a $27.5 million funding allocation for the port, along with $250,000 to get started on a new fire station. The fire station has an estimated total cost of over $1 million.
“The Port of Eden redevelopment will ensure the world’s largest cruise ships can visit our region, delivering a major boost for tourism,” Mr Constance said.
“I’m delighted to confirm $27.5 million in the budget to get on with this project which is so vital for Eden’s economy. This is a project that will deliver jobs during construction and long-term benefits through increased visitor numbers,” he said.
The $27.5 million in the 2016-17 budget will add to $1.5 million in the 2015-16 budget allocation to make $29 million that was announced by Premier Mike Baird during his visit to Merimbula with the Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull on May 23.
