The Bega Roosters under 18s tasted their first defeat in three years at the Bega Recreation Ground on Sunday, going down to the Pambula-Merimbula Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs secured a narrow win over the reining premiers 22-18 after a hard-fought game.
However, in four other matches the Roosters came out on top comfortably with 40-point margins in many games.
The Bega Chicks league-tag side won both its contests with the Pink Panthers and the Hot Doggies scoring more than 40 points in each with standout performances from rep player Joccoaa Rogers and Kezie Apps.
The reserve grade also took down the Panthers comfortably 40-6 with the combination of Dennis Scott and Craig Matthews providing a huge boost for the hosts.
Two Matthews’ tries came off a great line-break from Scott giving Bega great field position to secure the points.
A renewed effort from the first grade Roosters also saw them cross the line 66-12 over the Bulldogs.
The Roosters were bolstered by several players stepping up from the reserve contest, while the Bulldogs made some incisive runs, but lost out on handling errors short of the line.
