Cathleen, 27, become engaged to her partner, Frank Sciannameo, only a week before her world was ripped apart.
Cathleen was originally diagnosed with advanced cancer of unknown primary, a term used to describe a metastatic cancer (cancer that has spread) with an unknown starting point but it has recently been changed to aggressive bowel cancer.
At the moment she has cancer in her bowels, lymphatic system and liver.
She has started chemotherapy but unfortunately she has been told she is terminal.
Originally doctors believed they could buy Cathleen three to five years but now they are looking at only 12 months.
Cathleen’s friend Kelly Warren said everyone is trying to stay positive, including Cathleen and her fiance Frank Sciannameo who are still planning to get married.
Ms Warren said she has been amazed at how much the community has rallied behind Cathleen.
Friends of Cathleen created an online fundraising page, which has raised more than $20,000, and organised a Texas Hold'em poker tournament at Club Sapphire on Friday, September 18 which raised around $9,000. They are also organising a trivia night at the Merimbula RSL on November 6.
