Finalists from our local area include Anna Auer, Zach Hooker, Alicia Munt and Lisa Bond all from Stage Flight Drama School in Pambula and Lumen Christi students Sam Delle Vergin and William Hassan of Mirador, Georgia Brian of Pambula Beach and Jared Tucker of Tura Beach.
The four students aged 11 to 16 from Stage Flight Drama School created a short film based on time travel entitled ‘The Assistant's Mistake’. They worked on their film for several weeks but 14-year-old Anna Auer said: “The best bit was seeing it all come together and seeing those sparks of inspiration.”
16-year-olds Sam Delle Vergin and William Hassan’s short film, ‘Isolated’, is about a socially awkward kid.
The year 10 students said they were stoked to be named finalists after having the idea for the film for about a year.
The winner of last year’s music video category, 13-year-old Georgia Brian, has once again made the finals with a song she wrote and recorded herself called ‘What You've Always Known’.
Tura Beach 15-year-old and Lumen Christi student Jared Tucker created a film “about a worker who got bored” which he called ‘Illusion’.
Jared and Georgia both said they really enjoyed creating their short films and that they were over the moon when they found out they were finalists.
Finalists’ short films will be screened and winners announced at a free public screening at The Picture Show Man, on Monday, September 7. See www.southeastarts.eventbrite.com to book tickets.
