Tracey has been battling life-threatening stage IV melanoma since late last year and last week was informed that she has another tumour on her lung. This is on top of a tumour that she already had on her lung which she was informed has increased in size. Because of this Tracey has been travelling to Canberra this week to bring her treatment with the breakthrough melanoma drug Keytruda forward.
For months Team Tracey have worked to raise money to ease the financial burden of Tracey’s treatment. Their two major events, a kids disco and a four band night raised thousands of dollars and their latest fundraiser, the Mega Raffle, which was drawn on Wednesday, August 5 at Club Sapphire helped them to surpass the $45,000 mark.
There were four major prizes given on the night to four very lucky people. First prize was a $5000 Queensland holiday that went to Janet Brandon; second prize, a $2500 Nolans car care package went to Louise Yeoman; third prize, a $1,200 tyre pack from Beaurepaires Bega went to Brie Dowdle and fourth prize, a $1,500 snowboard and gear went to Sarah Cottrell. On top of the four major prizes there were also more than 30 other prize packs that were given away.
Team Tracey, who were very grateful from the support of the community, commented on social media: “We would love to thank everyone individually but it is not possible as there are so many contributors of prizes, donations and volunteers. Please know that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your amazing support. This has been an exceptional campaign so far and your generosity will not be forgotten.
“Your generosity has meant that Tracey can concentrate on her enormous battle ahead without the added financial pressure that she was facing. There will be other amazing events over the coming months that are being organised by other groups and businesses within our wonderful community, so keep your eye out.”
