Veterans, local school students and those who proudly wore the medals of their forebears, marched from the Merimbula RSL Club, along Market Street before turning into Beach Street. People lined the route, applauding the marchers and accompanying band.
There was little doubt that well over 1000 people attended, hearing songs from students, presentations from students of Merimbula and Pambula Public Schools, Lumen Christi Catholic College and Eden Marine High School.
Many wreaths were laid and the Rector of the Sapphire Coast Anglican Parish gave a moving address of the horrors of war.
