The crowd stood in silent reflection until just after 6am when the Anzac Day service began with a recording of a locally written and produced song.
Titled, The Immortal Anzacs, the song was composed and performed by local RSL sub branch member Geoff Dove accompanied by Elizabeth Roberts.
“It was my tribute to the Anzacs,” Mr Dove said after the service.
It has been 100 years since the first Anzac Day commemoration was held and yet the appreciation of the soldiers’ sacrifices seemed as strong as ever.
Current and former service personnel and their families wore their medals with pride while young children looked on with great respect.
The simple but poignant service was over in less than 30 minutes and was followed by a free breakfast barbecue with tea, coffee and of course, Anzac biscuits.
