The service started with the arrival of piper, John Cross who was accompanied by two members of the 7th Light Horse Bemboka Troop, Captain Gary Berman and Staff Sergeant Mick Symon.
There were reading from local students, staff members, residents and prayers from Reverend Anthony Frost, deacon assistant at the Sapphire Coast Anglican Parish.
Chairman of South Coast Legacy, Peter Johnston gave the Anzac address and talked of his visits to Gallipoli saying it was sobering and that he didn’t know how they held on for so long.
Mr Johnston said he was heartened by the attendance of young people at Anzac Day services and felt that the future of Australia was in good hands.
Resident and war widow, Nell Harris read a poem, The Last to Leave, by Gallipoli veteran, Leon Gellerty and Stella Lane, who was a sergeant in the RAAF and is a war widow, read The Ode.
A number of wreaths were laid before the flag was lowered, The Last Post sounded and everyone paid their respects in silence.
Lest we forget.
