Contingency plans for the Sapphire Coast AFL and Far South Coast Football Association have been cast aside by the latest lockdown extension, bringing both to an early finish.

In a statement released on Friday, SCAFL co-ordinator Mitch Wallis shared the news.
"AFL Sapphire Coast, in consultation with AFL NSW/ACT has made the tough decision to abandon the remainder of the 2021 AFL Sapphire Coast season," Mr Wallis said.
"AFL Sapphire Coast has, in consultation with Clubs, made considerable efforts to complete the season in meaningful way. However, the latest announcement has left us with no viable way to complete the 2021 season in a safe and meaningful way."
Mr Wallis said following consultation with the governing body, premierships will not be awarded, while clubs have been acknowledged for minor premiership results based on the standings at the close of play.
The Tathra Sea Eagles were congratulated for taking out both the senior and women's minor premierships, while other leaders include:
Division two, Eden Whalers
Under 17s boys - Broulee/Moruya Giants
Under 15s boys - Merimbula Diggers
Under 15s youth girls - Bermagui Breakers.
Under 13s mixed - Pambula Panthers
Under 11s mixed - Pambula Panthers.
"I would like to personally thank the entire AFL Sapphire Coast community for the effort and passion you have shown for our competition over especially the last 2 seasons. This has been an incredibly challenging time and without you all, our competition would not be where it is today."
The competition's best and fairest and individual award winners are likely to be announced in a digital presentation later this year.
Similarly the Eden Killer Whales shared the news that the latest round of lockdowns would also see the end of the football season.
"Well it looks like that's a wrap on the 2021 season with the latest round of restrictions leaving no time to play finals before Summer sports hopefully commence," the club shared in a statement on social media.
The club said it had been wonderful to see teams taking the field and having fun this year despite the challenges of poor weather and COVID-19 restrictions.
This latest extension is also expected to bring an end to hopes for the Group 16 competition, which has yet to release any official word.
However, the Group had announced four contingency plans with the current extension blowing all four timeframes out of the water.
