Pambula Business Chamber received $25,000 in funding from the Foundation for Regional and Rural Recovery program 'Strengthening Rural Communities' with the aim of installing a number of artworks by local artists around the town.
The plan will be an extra attraction for the Pambula which has focused on getting its village atmosphere.
President of the Pambula Business Chamber Michelle Pettigrove said that the start of work had created a lot of interest with tourists and locals stopping to take photos as Merimbula artist SueEllen Yates worked on one of the empty walls.
"There has been an overwhelmingly positive response from locals," Ms Pettigrove said.
The trail will include six works by six different artists, all very different in their styles, all local and all professionals. The artists and the location of their works are:
1. Toonku and Ngyardi by Cheryl Davison north wall of the town hall
2. Long Right by Stan Squire west wall of Pambula Tile shop
3. Pambula Rivermouth Nicole Grimm-Hewitt east wall of Integrated Massage
4. Gang Gang by Andrew Jeeves north wall of Newsagency
5. Bespoke mural by Simon Thomas north wall of Commercial Hotel
6. Bespoke mural by SueEllen Yates north wall of Penny Lane
"The Pambula Art Project subcommittee is presently working on the complex task of preparing the submission for the next grant application to help fund tier two of the project," Ms Pettigrove said.
"In the first phase the choices for the printed panels necessarily focused on quality local artworks for which high resolution, print-ready images were available. As the project moves forward the net will be cast wider to involve even more local artists," she said.
"It is hoped that a regular Pambula Arts Festival can eventually be held to celebrate our homegrown talent and actively involve the Pambula community in the artwork selection for public display through a 'People's Choice' process."
