Beach access at The Point in Tura Beach has been dedicated to the man behind their build.

The stairway has been dubbed the Rob High Steps during a brief commemoration with council staff, family and friends last week.

Mr High's daughter Jenny was on hand for the dedication and spoke about her father's love of the area and his passionate will to do good things for the community.

From golfing events to charity, he was ever kind and generous.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick also spoke of Mr High's dedication to the community and the groups he was part of or helped build from the ground up as well as his efforts to create Mandeni resort and Manna Park and his involvement in what would go on to become the Men's Shed groups.

Mr Fitzpatrick also thanked Jon Gaul who proposed the dedication and worked with council to make it happen, including arranging for the signage with the Men's Shed.

Friends also spoke about Mr High's love of science.
