Club president Jason Smith praised volunteers and strong numbers of supporters for creating a wonderful atmosphere over the weekend to enjoy some dirt-slinging races and plenty of sunshine.

"The crowds were good for both days and we were very happy to not get any showers over the weekend, there were also a lot of compliments around the track," Mr Smith said.

The Sapphire Speedway was absolutely packed with campers over the weekend with the field dwarfing last year's entries.

"Our numbers were up by about 50 entries, so that was great to see - we all sort of camped and it made for a good atmosphere," Mr Smith said.

The strong entries also made for exciting racing with capacity grids of 30 riders in many of the classes.

"It's unreal when you get a full grid like that, it's great to see, and especially seeing the numbers in the juniors - they're the ones that are going to keep the sport going."

Mr Smith said a surge in female riders was also a boost with girls showing plenty of ability on two wheels.

"Girls entries are growing really rapidly and it's wonderful and we had some of the girls putting it to the guys," he said.

Issi Barker was among those talented riders representing the local contingent and earning herself two golden tickets to the King of MX finals event in Cessnock later this year.

Titles are up for grabs as the King, Queen, Prince and Princess of the series.

Bailey Smith, Will Smith and Tom Constance also had exceptional rides in the senior classes on Sunday, while Mr Smith said there were a good crop of local juniors earning themselves a finals place on Saturday.

"A fair few local juniors made it through and we're thrilled for the up-and-coming juniors in the area."

Mr Smith said Motorcycling NSW were pleased again with the course and condition of the Sapphire track and the local club are now considering a bid to host the King of MX finals next year.

Mr Smith thanked the volunteers and supporters who made the weekend such a success.

"We just want to thank our club's great supporters and volunteers - they make this weekend happen - you couldn't host something like this without the immense work of our volunteers and we're grateful."

The Far South Coast Motorcycle Club will now head to a couple of regular calendar rounds before again hosting the opening round of the Amcross series in April.
