Top seed Joe White faced off against his former club-mate in fourth seed Rhys Dowling who secured the Australian title in a closely fought straight-sets victory.
Dowling took the title 11-4, 11-6, 11-8.
The pair had each defeated one of the two Calvert brothers Tom and Nick in the semi-finals to advance.
White had a particularly hard road into the final, pulling off a remarkable come back against Tom Calvert after going two games down in the best-of-five clash.
"It's been an interesting preparation - I wouldn't say ideal," White said after a reverse sweep to win the semi-final.
He said the Open in Bega was the first major tournament for men's players in around a year and everyone's preparations had been disrupted.
"Just in that match as well, you feel the nerves, it's the first time you've had that real high expectation to try and make a final."
White also commended his final opponent in Dowling saying they had played together since they were kids.
"It's awesome to have two guys from Darwin, we've been playing together since we were eight - that's pretty huge for NT squash."
White said he had been hoping to get a crack at his two-year-senior rival, but Dowling proved too strong in Sunday's game.
White praised Bega Squash officials and said it can be "a largely thankless job at times", but said the Bega club and president John Stylianou had provided the first real tournament opportunity for many players in a long time.
Players had also billeted with club members and thanked the hosts for gracious invites into their homes.
Dowling thanked his hosts Dennis and Janelle Curtis for their hospitality during the tournament.
In the women's draw, former world number one Rachael Grinham took the full five games to defeat her opponent Jessica Turnbull in the final.
Grinham had earlier made it look easy, taking down both Jessica Osborne and Selena Shaikh in straight sets.
Third seed Turnbull had caused an upset over number two seed Sarah Caldwell in the semi-final with a straight-sets victory on Saturday afternoon advancing her to the final against Grinham.
Their opening game went to 15 points with Grinham securing a hard-fought 15-13 advantage and setting the stage for a gritty clash in front of a packed gallery of spectators.
Grinham secured the second 11-9 before Turnbull battled back to win the next two games 11-7 and 11-5 setting up a fifth-game decider.
Grinham held on for an 11-8 result to claim the result.
Officials thanked players and said the tournament had run smoothly.
