The solo sailor was travelling north along the east coast from Tasmania when he contacted NSW Marine Command to say his yacht had lost sails but he was not in distress.
The yachtsman was to maintain two-hourly radio contact with the intention of motoring into Eden, but failed to do so.
NSW Marine Command contacted the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) which deployed an aircraft to the last known location.
An extensive air and sea search located the yacht 50 nautical miles south west of Gabo Island on Saturday.
The yacht was intact but there was no sign of the man.
The search continued throughout the weekend without success and emergency services will continue to monitor the coastline for any sign of the missing yachtsman.
