Cobargo rugby league export Millie Boyle will keep her second NRLW premiership ring close, but maybe not on all the time, she told media.
After the Broncos defeated the Roosters 20-10 in the grand final on Sunday, Boyle revealed her 2019 grand final ring had to be cut off.
"I definitely won't be keeping it on for four days after flying and some drinks, it swelled up last year and I ended up in emergency and had to get it cut off," she told NRL media in the sheds after the game.
"I'll keep it on the pinky," she adds with a laugh.
Boyle said the premiership was made extra special given the tough circumstances 2020 had presented to Australians through bushfires and COVID-19.
"It's definitely close to my heart with the first responders with the fires hitting so close to home, [the win] is really special."
She said everyone had made sacrifices all year just to be able to play footy and the week of preparations for the grand final had been a long one, but there was elation at the result.
"We're so excited that we came here and got the job done," Boyle beamed.
"We had a job to do and at the end of the day you still want to win the games you're playing - it's only a short season, so we're just really grateful we were able to do it."
At prop Boyle had 16 carries for a strong 146 metre gain for the Broncos and said the middle was a tough battle.
"A couple of their great players in the middle back, they really did throw everything they had at us and absolutely full credit to them, it was such a grind out there."
