Like many other community and sporting groups, the Merimbula and District Arts Group has been affected by the fires and COVID-19 pandemic but membership of the group remains strong.

Newly elected president Gen Ryan explained that the gallery at Oaklands which hosts the arts groups works was closed in January due to the bushfires and then from March until June because of the pandemic.
It has now re-opened with COVID restrictions in place, Ms Ryan said.
She said it had been a difficult year and as a not for profit their funds were down.
"Normally we have two exhibitions a year, one at Easter and one in September, both at Twyford Hall. We are hoping to get back on track for our judged Easter show next year," Ms Ryan said.
Workshops have also suffered but there is now a water colour workshop planned for October with a tutor from Canberra coming to run the session.
However the group has been going for over 40 years and has more than 80 members (members must live in Bega Valley Shire).
The group normally meets once a month sometimes hosting talks by local artists or gets together at an open air venue to practise their art.
The new committee includes Terri-Lee Thomson secretary, Joyce McGill Public Officer, Ann Mawhinney vice president, Gloria Baker treasurer, Lynda Plummer committee member, Gen Ryan, president, Kathryn Hede vice president, Beverley Leiter committee member and Sylvia Edwards committee member.
