The downpour has been welcomed by many, but has brought with it a series of weather warnings, including a severe weather warning for damaging winds, heavy rainfall and damaging surf for the South Coast on Monday.
Weatherzone reported in the 24 hours to 9am on Sunday, 24.6mm of rain had fallen in Bega, 19.8mm in Merimbula, and 38.5mm in Bermagui, which is measured through a station at Narooma.
The rainfall for Eden is recorded at Merimbula.
By 9am on Monday, 56.2mm had fallen in Bega, 31mm in Merimbula and Eden, 81mm in Bermagui and 6.6mm in Bombala.
These heavy rains have also led to rivers swelling, including a minor flood warning for the Bega River, as well as roads closing around the Bega Valley Shire.
On Monday morning BOM stated a low pressure system off the Illawarra coast was maturing and slow moving, while bringing damaging wind gusts and wind-driven large sea waves along the southern coast.
"The winds and waves may extend north to Sydney and possibly up to the Central Coast this afternoon, before easing later this evening or early Tuesday as the low gradually weakens," the bureau stated.
Gale wind warnings have been released for the Eden Coast for Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28.
BOM stated on Monday that damaging wind gusts over the Southern Highlands and the coastal ranges of South Coast are also possible.
"Winds should gradually ease later this evening or early tomorrow as the low gradually weakens," it stated.
