Here in Merimbula one lone person was standing peacefully just before Merimbula Bridge this morning with her sign high up in the air - 'Black Lives Matter' - showing it to traffic passing by on foot and in cars.
I saw you and I hear you!
Your sign and you standing there solely had more impact on me than thousands of demonstrators in the cities.
It takes guts to stand out like this. I want to thank you for being there. Good on you and believe me you have been heard.

Letter to the Eden RFS
Dear Volunteers, We are writing on behalf of the residents living at the north end of Maling St, concerning the enormous build up of combustible bush, containing many already dead trees and much dry undergrowth, due to our third year of drought in this south-east corner of NSW.
As we saw in January, the north is the main direction from which fire can now overcome Eden township. And while I know you folk are fully aware of this, as seen by your plans to burn off west of Bimmel St, I am asking you to burn that whole side of town, from Bimmel St down as far as Princes Highway. As you know, it is a solid area of combustible bush, running all the way to Mt Bimmel.
My friend, Margaret, lives close to the old cannery site and it, too, is in urgent need of burn off before summer. Like this area, it contains many tall trees and dry, ready to burn, undergrowth.
Both of us have letters and replies, going back to 2013, to BVSC, Dept of Crown Lands, Nowra, Twofold Aboriginal Committee and Andrew Constance which have been signed by me and neighbouring households, plus numerous phone calls over that seven to eight-year period, all to no avail.
So we are now appealing to you folk, who know the situation better than each one of those to whom we have been appealing to no avail, for some real action!
Thank you for your obvious knowledge and action which you have already undertaken to solve this problem.

Job vacancy
In response to Bill Johnston's letter June 3, the Great White House Dinosaur may be looking for a Climate Change Denial Advisor for his coming presidential campaign. Can someone please pass this on to Bill of Port Macquarie so he can apply for this great (though potentially short lived) opportunity.
Bernard Lagarenne, Merimbula
Thanks, but no thanks
Liberal candidate Fiona Kotvojs tells us that she can deliver for Eden Monaro. Deliver what exactly? Some "deliveries" already made by Coalition governments both state and federal include (in no particular order):
Sports rorts. The unlawful Robo Debt scheme which preyed on vulnerable Australians. "Home Builder" scheme offering nothing for those of us in regional areas who may wish to, eg, upgrade the kitchen, make the house safer for elderly living or install better protection against bushfires. Few of us have the odd $150,000 stashed under the mattress!
Lack of action on climate change. An inadequate response to bushfire recovery.
An economy already sick before COVID 19, now in intensive care. The Ruby Princess.
Increasing lack of transparency and oversight of government decisions.
A second rate NBN. Australia's average fixed broadband download speed is 42 Mbps versus world average of 75Mbps (Ookla Speedtest Global Index as at April 2020). Even this speed is not achievable via Fibre to the Node in Tura Beach!
So Fiona, thanks but no thanks! More deliveries like these are neither wanted nor needed.
