The first meeting for 2020 of the Bega Valley Parkinson Support Group was a very sober gathering as a number of members relayed their involment in the fires that ravaged the area.

The next meeting on March 2 will have two speech therapists as guest speakers and they should create plenty of interest for the group.
We have a date for our golf day of April 5 at the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club. We are looking for a full sheet with golfers from all the local clubs most welcome. Money raised will be used for research in finding a cure for Parkinson.
The next meeting will be held at the Bega Golf Club March 2 at 10.30am.
Garden Club
Merimbula Garden Club had a show and tell casual meeting to celebrate the New Year, and member Athelia Channon modelled a traditional garment worn by the women of Myanmar (formally Burma); the men wear a similar skirt and shirts made from various fabrics.
Brent from Tura Nursery will be the guest speaker on Saturday, February 29 telling our members and visitors about his recent trip to famous gardens and parks in America. His talk will be accompanied by a colourful powerpoint presentation.
Seniors Week
Origami and Tea
Join us for a stress free and slow paced session of craft and socialising. Origami is the ancient art of paper folding. We will sit down together and create some beautiful and surprisingly easy Origami objects including a crane and a magpie while enjoying a chat and a cup of refreshing herbal tea (or black) tea.

Beeswax Wraps
Learn how to make your own sustainable beeswax wraps to store your food. Reduce plastic, be creative, have fun. All materials provided. Thursday February 27 from 1.30-3.30pm at Tura Marrang Library & Community Centre, Tura Beach. Cost $.36. Contact eventbrite or the library to book.
