While allegations have been made on social media about unqualified people asking residents to leave their homes due to the bushfire emergency, police have not received recent reports of non-official doorknocking in the Wolumla area.

"While no reports have been received, police are reminding the public to be vigilant and always check the legitimacy of people who are doorknocking," a NSW Police spokesperson said.
"Ask for credentials, and if you're not sure - contact your local police station.
"Police are also reminding the community to report crime via relevant channels, not via social media."
The spokesperson said a high-visibility police presence will continue to be maintained in bushfire-affected areas, with operations focusing on property theft and criminal activity in these areas.
