The Australian Defence Force came to Cobargo well equipped, but maybe not quite prepared for the might of the Bermagui-Cobargo Eels on Saturday.

The local rugby league footy club challenged the Army forces stationed at the Cobargo showground to a touch-footy friendly and after chasing down an early deficit had a dominant display in the final minutes to clinch a strong result.
The Eels had laid out the club jumpers at Narrira Park on Saturday as a good crowd turned out to both cheer on the local crew and say thank you to the Army for their continued efforts on the ground.
A handful of players from across Group 16 temporarily swapped allegiances to run out for the Eels, while with the competition - and the weather - heating up, the Army were quickly calling in some reinforcements of their own.
Officials from both teams said it was a fantastic game with some clever passing, quick runs and about 80 minutes of game time played in great spirit.
Local identity Gavin Ringland also gave the troops a run for their money and featured with a try for the home club, drawing rapturous cheers from the crowd.
Bega Valley Shire Councillor Tony Allen thanked the Army forces who had been deployed the Bega Valley for their ongoing efforts and said it was a great opportunity to bring people together.
"It's been fantastic and hopefully it can help people starting to move forward," Mr Allen said.
