So when the Merimbula Lions Club reached out, it was easy for Unit Commander Bill Blakeman to agree to the request.
"Our volunteers are fortunate to receive a lot of community support for the work we do, so it was nice to be able to support another group of volunteers," he said.
In one of their numerous community events, the Merimbula Lions Club recently ran an disco to celebrate Halloween - and a prize was needed for the best-dressed boy and girl. Marine Rescue Merimbula offered to provide the winners with a tour of the base, radio room and a trip out on the rescue vessel into Merimbula Bay.
Winner for the best-dressed girl was Jaz Barker, who visited the base with her father Todd. Mr Blakeman said he was not sure which one of them had the most fun!
"It was great fun and really interesting," Jaz said after the trip around the bay.
The winner for the best-dressed boy was Thomas from Bega who will visit the Marine Rescue Merimbula in the near future.
