University of the Third Age's "Take Your Brain Dancing" class members and guests enjoyed an evening of old-time dance and shared supper goodies in a fundraiser for the foundation's national Breast Care Nurses campaign.
One of the organisers, Wendy Colhoun, said she was "so proud" to have contributed $1132 to the town-wide "Pink Up Merimbula" cause, which also included the recent street party and town sales.
Ms Colhoun said the Take Your Brain Dancing class teaches "non-dancers" the basics. They meet Wednesday afternoons and Friday evenings with around 25-30 people at any one class. Friday's fundraiser was their first social event.
"There are such great positive effects of learning to dance while you're ageing," she said.
"It can help prevent the onset of dementia, using your mind, using your body - and it's great social contact."
