Police have announced they are investigating the massacre of kangaroos at Tura Beach on the weekend.

About 10.15am on Sunday, September 29 police were called to the Dress Circle and Headland Drive, Tura Beach after receiving reports dead kangaroos had been found on the road.
On Monday, police said they believe up to 20 kangaroos may have been run over by a vehicle between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday.
Detectives attached to South Coast Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police media confirmed no arrests have been made so far and said were charges to be laid over the incident they would be ones of animal cruelty.
A charge of cruelty to animals carries the maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment for an individual.
In earlier coverage, when speaking to Australian Community Media one Tura resident said police had been going door to door on Sunday morning talking to residents.
It is believed that some residents saw lights and some a vehicle.
There is currently one surviving joey that was taken from its dead mother's pouch and is now being cared for by a Far South Coast WIRES volunteer.
WIRES said there may be other survivors, so asked all residents to be on the lookout for any others in the area that may be injured and are lying in bushland or vacant blocks.
