Merimbula Airport terminal work remains on track according to project manager Jenny Symons who is overseeing the work which includes a new departure lounge, new offices, improved facilities and provision for screening.

With the roof on, the focus is turning to the interior which will have disabled access toilets in both arrivals and departure areas and charging points for electronic devices for passengers and those waiting for passengers.
While an area for screening has been set aside, it will not be used until required. Screening is necessary on the Q400 size aircraft taking 70 plus passengers but would only be needed if an airline using those aircraft were to put Merimbula on its schedule.
A piece of artwork, originally destined for Bemboka, will be installed close to the arrivals gate.
Simon Pankhurst's work Out for a stroll was named the winner of the BVSC $10,000 acquisitive prize in 2017 and was added to the shire's collection of public art.
In February 2018 council announced that Bemboka had been chosen as the location for the piece of public art saying that it would "sit nicely in the rolling landscape of the valley that surrounds Bemboka".
However a slab is currently being prepared for the arrival of the artwork at Merimbula Airport which Ms Symons said would be in about four to six weeks time..
In addition there is provision for displays of local artwork in the departure lounge and while no discussions on the matter have been finalised, preparation work at this stage of building will allow for the hanging of art, Ms Symons explained.
