Hot pink, rose pink, bright pink - word is on the street is pink is the new black and Merimbula is about to get 'pinked up'.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and local businesses, schools and clubs are pinking up with communities all over Australia to take part in the McGarth Foundations' "Pink Up Your Town" campaign.

Tania Dwyer from Seeto, Dodd and Dwyer Amcal Pharmacy is heading the campaign and aims to raise $10,000 in support of McGrath Breast Care Nurses.

"Not only does this campaign support the Breast Care Nurse in Bega it also brings the community together to have some fun," Ms Dwyer said.

During the month of October, Merimbula can expect to see an explosion of pink with pop up shops, buskers, balloon fairies, flash mob dancers, crazy sales days, plus many more events planned kicking off with a family fun day fundraiser at Spencer Park hosted by the Daisy Lounge on Sunday, October 27.

"The Wharf Restaurant will be hosting a high tea on October 13 and we are planning a crazy sale day for October 3, and there is plenty more in the pipe line," Ms Dwyer said.

Ms Dwyer said she was looking forward to the wave of positivity that will come along with campaign.
