Organised by Sapphire Coast Jazz Band leader Paul Dion, it was an opportunity to offer a workshop for interested musicians, after Mr Dion and Mr Richardson had played at the Down South Jazz Club the previous evening.
Music teacher at Lumen Christi Joe Fragnito said it was a great learning opportunity especially for students in a rural location.
The band meets every Thursday evening and welcomes new members. Contact Paul Dion on 0408 545 859 for more information.
Auxiliary
The Pambula District Hospital Auxiliary (PDHA) has facilitated significant purchases to make the hospital stay of patients who are confined to bed, safe and comfortable. Most recently, a highly specialised chair was purchased as the result of an urgent special request by Kelly Jurd, nurse manager.
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia recently donated funds resulting in the purchase of an immunisation fridge to store medications.
The refurbished Pambula Health Service was officially opened on August 15 and attended by members. Each bed now has a fully functional remote-controlled television, with thanks to the auxiliary's fundraising efforts and Rankin Builders.
Fundraising continues with meat raffles at the Royal Willows every Friday, 4.30-6.15pm. Please come along, chat and enjoy the warm fire.
The recent AGM elected president Maureen Hadley, secretary Wendy Gorton, treasurer and patron Joyce Bennett, vice president Lynn Ashton, vice president Ursula Viebcke, assistant secretary/treasurer Barbara J Davy. Next meeting is August 28 at 10am, CWA Rooms Toallo Street Pambula. New members and guests welcome.
Pambula Probus
New members Val and Peter Martin were inducted into the Pambula Beach Probus Club by stand-in president Lawrie Fox on August 19 and warmly welcomed.
Guest speaker Alex Nichol, former ABC presenter and author, gave an entertaining talk about the dying art of storytelling which included many amusing anecdotes.
The next outing will be September 2 to the new Eden Wharf followed by lunch at the Wharfside Cafe. Meet at the Pambula car park at 10.45am and carpool to Eden. Our next general meeting will be at the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club on September 16 at 10am where guest speaker Michael Brosnan will speak about his work with Social Justice Advocates.
