The Mumbulla Foundation raises funds to distribute in the form of grants to not-for-profit organisations in the Bega Valley Shire.

It was launched in 2000 in partnership with the Bega Valley Shire Council, which has contributed $25,000 annually since that time.

The Foundation matches that amount, dollar for dollar, with money donated by local businesses and individuals, and through fundraising events organised by members of the Mumbulla Foundation Board, who are all volunteers.

In addition to allocating grants amounting to at least $50,000 to not-for-profit organisations, Mumbulla Foundation also awards six scholarships of $1000 each to students from University of Wollongong Bega campus.

Towards the end of the school year the Foundation issues $50 book vouchers to each school in the shire to award on presentation day.

At the beginning of each year the Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, distributes $50 vouchers to schools, to assist needy families to purchase necessary school items.

The work of the Mumbulla Foundation helps make the Bega Valley Shire a place of community and the activities of small, not-for-profit organisations are important in holding the community together.

This is the reason the Foundation feels the need to lend financial support wherever it can.

However each year funding applications exceed the amount the Foundation is able to provide.

The Mumbulla Foundation's slogan is "Give where you Live" and donations, which are tax deductible, are always needed to boost the coffers.
