Jazz Quest at the Lakeview Hotel is held annually as part of the Merimbula Jazz Festival and takes place on the Saturday evening.
Developed and organised by Paul Dion, the quest aims to encourage players under the age of 25 and offers prizes for the best.
"Jazz Quest celebrates the wonderful, dazzling young talent at the festival. The future of jazz is well and truly ensured in the hands of the young players," Mr Dion said.
The innovation of having a Jazz Quest for younger players has driven the jazz festival in a successful direction, by ensuring that school bands and younger, modern players with different styles of jazz, attend the festival, he explained.
The Merimbula Jazz Festival Ecumenical Service will be held at Club Sapphire on Sunday at 11am.

It regularly attracts crowds in the hundreds and over 400 people are estimated to attend this year. The service features choirs and gospel singing.
On Monday, the Down South Jazz Club will be hosting the Jazz Hatters Party (previously the Jazz Picnic), complete with a line up of toe tapping bands.
The Down South Jazz Club was formed in 1984 by a small group of jazz lovers, eager to play and hear their music on a regular basis.
The club is dedicated to promoting jazz music and encouraging local bands, and holds regular nights for its members (generally on the third Thursday of each month).
Over the weekend, check out the Jazz Art on display at Club Sapphire. Each year local artists produce some stunning artworks around the jazz theme with one chosen to be used as the basis for the following year's poster.
