The brand new Merimbula Lakeside Lantern Walk will take place as part of the Merimbula Jazz Festival on this Saturday, June 8.
The walk will be a part of other additions to the festival which will see Market Street closed between Beach Street and Hylands Corner from noon until 7pm on Saturday afternoon, following the jazz festival parade.
The space will enable buskers to play, food stalls to be set up and following the lantern walk, entertainment including a dazzling display from the Brothers OnFire.
Vera David is the organiser behind the lantern walk which will take place from Spencer Park to Twyford Hall.
"I used to go to the yearly Belgrave Lantern Parade in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria," Ms David said.
"This was a much anticipated event; it brought the community together and brought excitement to everyone.
"I was so inspired by this that I decided to start something similar when I moved here."
