However, while the course and weather were both exceptional, organisers said the slick and tricky greens provided a true test of skill for visitors and locals alike.
The club commended the field who overcame the challenges to card some exceptional scores across all grades in the contest.
The first round saw the reigning Tura club champion, Michael Coulter, secure the lead with a fine one under par 72. Close behind was visitor from Gold Creek Scott Fogg with an excellent 73, with a number of players hot on their heels on 76, including familiar locals Gary Cook and Russell Rogers. Winner of last year's Open, Dave Culvert, wasn't far away on 78 together with pre-tournament favourite, Chris Campbell.
On the final day, Michael Coulter fired another great 72 to finish two under par for the tournament. He held on firmly to his lead in the face of strong challenges from Cook (72) and Campbell who shot the tournament's low round of 71.
Cook's round was particularly notable in that it included four penalty strokes yet resulted in only one hole over par, albeit a quadruple bogey on the fifth.
In conjunction with this event, the Tura Beach GC hosted a Senior event with the prestigious Golf Australia "Senior Order of Merit" ranking. This was won by Russell Rogers with a 36 hole gross score of 155. With Ted Johnson the runner-up three shots back on 158.
For the ladies, last Wednesday was the second round of the club championships with 44 taking part.
Therese Strangman won the day with nett 76 to also lead the A grade comp from runner-up Ruth Thompson with 77 nett.
B grade winner was Rosemary Amos on 78 nett from Joyce Jones on 79.
Betty Richards topped C grade with 78 on a count-back from Judy Lonza.
With the men's open event on Saturday, a number of Tura ladies contested the Bombala Open.
Officials congratulated the players who came home with "a truckload of trophies" with Anne Madigan and Helen Pearsall scoring scratch wins, while Jenny Lasker and Merrily Bell finished runner-up.
Theresa Becroft won the division three nett, while Deanna Scott was division two nett runner-up.
