Joining Peter Baylor on their May 2019 tour will be guitarist Jon Delaney, bassist Jono Brown and Brennan Hamilton Smith on clarinet.
A professional musician since 1980, Peter Baylor has played with countless bands in various styles in Melbourne and Sydney. With his eclectic guitar and vocal style he moves effortlessly from jazz and swing to blues, rockabilly and country styles. In recent years he has toured Australia, the US, Europe and Japan with a variety of groups including Tom Baker, George Washingmachine and Julie O'Hara, the Baylor Brothers plus many more. In addition to his musical talents, Peter played Scotty Moore in the 1994 Sydney production of "ELVIS, The Musical". He has also supported many star performers including Bob Dylan.
Brennan Hamilton Smith on clarinet is a recent graduate from Monash jazz studies, who has already proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with. With his feet firmly in both modern and classic jazz styles he is in demand for his swinging approach on tenor sax and clarinet. He performs regularly with Ultrafox, The Sugar Foot Ramblers, The Lagerphones, Alma Zygier and also Chonk (alongside Peter Baylor), a band dedicated to the sound of the Benny Goodman sextet with Charlie Christian.
Jon Delaney began his performance career in 1994, and has gone on to perform all over Australia in his own bands and as a sideman with countless other acts. He graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2005, and alongside his performance schedule, teaches guitar at a tertiary level. He spent 2008 playing in and around Berlin, and has also performed in the United Kingdom and Canada. In 2011 he travelled to Belgium to study with manouche legend Fapy Lefertin.
Jono Brown, on double bass, came over from New Zealand over four years ago to make his mark on the vibrant Melbourne music scene, and has been in demand ever since for his solid gut string swinging style. He plays with many vintage jazz bands including The Railway Gang, The Handlebars, The Four Scoops, and The Sugarfoot Ramblers, and is always working as a freelancer.
Ultrafox have a new CD out, their third, 'Nocturnal Blues'.
