Celebrating its 28th year, Flickerfest's national tour presents A-list short film programs recognised among the best in the world with films hand-picked from the festival's 2700 entries
Over two big nights at Club Sapphire, April 12-13, enjoy the Best of Australian Shorts program on Friday and the Short Laughs Comedy program on Saturday, from 7.30pm both nights.
The Flickerfest programs present a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films. Highlights from the Best of Australian Shorts on April 12 include "All These Creatures", the winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2018, and fantastical animation "Della Mortika: Carousel Of Shame" winner of the Best Australian Animation award at Flickerfest 2019! "Desert Dash", a wonderful creative comedy by Gracie Otto, also features.
Also screening is the delightful indigenous drama from the NT "Lil Bois", by Grant Thompson, the first short film in the traditional language of Ngandi.
Comedian and actor Paul McDermott makes a return to Flickerfest, with his beautifully crafted and haunting animation "Ghostbear", which looks at the world's disappearing species.
Clever comedy follows on April 13 as Flickerfest presents an of off-kilter funny shorts program from Australia and across the world. Highlights include "Animal Behaviour" from Canada (nominated for an Oscar) where five animals meet to discuss their inner angst in group therapy, and "How It Feels To Be Hungover", a hilarious comedy from Sweden.
