David Lole (keyboard), Scott Temby (trumpet), Sam Martin (double bass) and Ken Vatcher (drums) will be accompanied by guest vocalist Matt Kimber.
Lole kick-started his musical career "filling in" at the Merimbula Jazz Festival in 2008 and, subsequently, now plays everything from classic rags to modern jazz, either as a featured soloist or regular band member for audiences all round Australia.
No stranger to Merimbula, Canberra born musician Temby has played at the Jazz Festival with many bands over the last 12 years, and entertained the Down South Jazz Club in 2013 with Conjunto Restante. Outside of performing, Scott also arranges, composes, and teaches music. His sense of groove and beautiful solos are a treat to listen to.
Martin resides in the village of Candelo. He is highly regarded in the Australian independent music scene as a bass player, sound engineer and experienced touring musician. He teaches on a regular basis and can be seen performing with The Sundowners, Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen among others.
Local drummer Vatcher is well known and much loved by DSJC members. He is the drummer of choice for many visiting performers who rely on local musicians for a rhythm section, and he has been a standing member of the Margie Fullerton Trio for many years. High points for Ken include working with The Figmentz, The Steve Clark Trio, The Stumblin'Wilburys, The Kade Brown Trio and The O'Donnell Brothers, to name but a few.
Guest vocalist Kimber, who is based in Bega, has been singing for over 28 years, during which time he has won numerous vocal competitions around Australia. His voice has been compared to that of Sinatra, Presley and Michael Bublé.
Try not to miss this excellent night of jazz starting at 7.30pm. Bookings can be made with Aileen/Kevin Walsh on 6495 9853, at bookings@downsouthjazzclub.org.au, or will be available on the night at the door.
