Vets out in force at Tura tournament

Tura ladies golfers hosted a two-day tournament last week with a strong turnout.
A field of 86 contested the four-ball on Wednesday, while 82 took part in the single stableford on Thursday.

The podium toppers in division two for the single stableford are Edna Beech, Joy Stewart, sponsor Eve O'Brien and Lynda Plummer.
This tournament was played with the endorsement of the Veteran Women Golfers’ Assocation of NSW along with sponsors Eve O’brien Properties and Sapphire Coast Golf School.
21 clubs were represented with players from St Michaels, Bonnie Doon, NSW, Temora, Murrumbidgee, Magenta Shores just to name a few.
The Ladies enjoyed the ninth hole shootout with bubbles on registration day along with a themed dinner that saw them dance the night away on Wednesday. Club officials said the golf course was in excellent condition and the weather was superb for both days of play.
Winners of the 4BBB Stableford and the VWNSW perpetual trophy were “newbies” to Tura Beach Kerry Seeto and Lynette Haar on a count-back from Betty Richards and Judy Macartney on 44 points.
NTP’s, straightest drives, golden shot and ball rundowns on both days were won.
Elizabith McErlain from Pambula-Merimbula was the division one winner in the Thursday Stableford with 32 points from runner-up Debra Meyink and Anne Lavender both on 31.
Tura Beach player Edna Beech won division two on 32 ahead of Lynda Plummer 31 and Joy Stewart on 29.
The home club also featured in division three with Ann McDonald winning on a three-way count-back from Judy Macartney and Lesley Merry.
