Merimbula Police are hoping to reunite a lost ring with it’s owner.

At first appearances it is just a plan gold band, presumably a man’s wedding ring, Merimbula Police Sergeant Cliff Scarlett said.

However, the ring, which was believed to have been lost at Merimbula’s Bar Beach was discovered to contain an incredibly fine inscription.

“It’s such small writing that it wasn’t until by chance put it on a white piece of paper we noticed it,” Sgt Scarlett said.

“It has the initials D A V C and the date 25/12/2017.”

“At first we thought it was a regular man’s wedding band, but we’re now thinking it’s possibly not because of the unusual date.”

Sgt Scarlett said it could potentially be a sentimental Christmas gift, or maybe a 21st birthday present.
