A sense of pride in community and of being an Australian shone through at Bega's Australia Day 2019 celebration.

Littleton Gardens was awash with sunshine and smiling faces on Saturday morning for the free breakfast and family entertainment.
The rising heat was too much for one elderly gentleman in the crowd, but with emergency services like SES and Rural Fire Service already on site with their displays, the response to assist was swift and it's believed he is doing well after cooling off a bit and help from arriving paramedics.
Two Bega Valley residents took the pledge to become naturalised Australians – Alan Head, from England, and Thi Ha Nguyen, originally from Vietnam.
Mr Head, 68, now of Bemboka, has lived in Australia since 1985 and “thought it was about time!”
Ms Nguyen said felt very happy and proud to now be an Australia, after first moving here in 2011.
For others around the gardens, Australia Day was in turn “a good day to celebrate”, “to not hold grudges” and “be proud in our community”.
