Mr Reynolds is a Remote Area Firefighting Team member and part of a 24 member team ‘Charlie’ which is the third rotation of fire fighters already deployed down south this season. He will be working in remote south western Tasmania for five days.
The Tasmanian chief fire officer, Chris Arnol warned that forecasts from the weather bureau are indicating very high fire dangers in the north and south of the state on Tuesday with very high fire dangers extending across most of the state on Thursday and Friday.
"These forecast conditions are going to put our current containment lines under great stress, and with a number of fires still uncontrolled the likelihood of fires escaping is very high,” Mr Arnol said.
Tasmania was hit by close to 2500 lightning strikes on January 14 and 15 which ignited dozens of fires, particularly in Southern Tasmania and around the greater Hobart area, Huon Valley and Southwest.
