The program, starting at 3pm on December 16, will take the audience from medieval Europe to contemporary Australia and includes popular Christmas songs such as Little Drummer Boy, and Australian favorites The Three Drovers and Christmas Day.
There are several opportunities during the concert for the audience to join in with massed carols.
Spirit Allegro is being joined by a five-piece recorder consort, Lumiere which features players from Bermagui to Bega. They will be performing with the choir as well as playing some beautiful seasonal music during the concert. Spirit Allegro has also been working with two talented local pianists, Hunter Bailey-Watts (Eden) and Douglas Simper (Wapengo) both of whom will be playing.
“It’s wonderful when people with a passion for singing and playing music come together and perform,” Spirit Allegro’s director, David Francis said.
“Christmas music always has a special energy about it and there’s no doubt that the audience will leave feeling uplifted – we are even including sections of the Messiah and there’s no denying that the Hallelujah Chorus is always rousing.”
Tickets available on the door $15, $12 concessions, under 16s free.
