Join the conversation with Ability Links who want to listen to everyone’s perception on belonging in the community.

Community development project officer John Bowker said the aim of the forum is to identify where people perceive the gaps to be in the community and to find out what they are missing out on.

“We want to hear what people would like to see happen in the community, whether that be more social groups or different activities they would like to be involved with.”

Ability Links have held forums in both regional and metropolitan areas which have shown great signs of success.

“A lot of ideas are generated and many result in projects, such as a local pottery group, community garden and an IT gaming development centre,” he said.

“We have had some really good results in the past with community conversations in Bombala and Tathra. There was a great turn out which was better than what we have had in some metropolitan areas,” Mr Bowker said. 

Ability Links are determined to find ways to include people with a disability in to the community and provide support.

“We have funding to support the community and hope to do what we can within our capacity,” Mr Bowker said.

“It is not just a conversation, we want to move forward and take action after the conversation.”

The conversation starts at 5.30pm at the Tura Marrang Library and Community Centre on Tuesday, December 11.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
