My Health Record
You have until November 15 to opt out of the My Health Record system. This is the only chance you will ever get. After that, you (and your children) will be forcibly enrolled. You will be able to "cancel" your record, but never delete it.

You cannot control who uploads things into your record. You have no right to check what is uploaded into your record. You cannot control who sees your record or find out who has accessed your record, nor what they do with it. You cannot correct or remove documents from your record.
The government has made it very clear that it will make your medical data available to commercial users such as insurance companies. It has specifically allowed for your medical data to be used against you by agencies such as the police and the ATO. The government says that will never happen but the legislation says it can.
Maybe you trust the current government. But do you trust every future government for the next hundred years? That's how long they plan to keep your medical information.
This is not a party-political issue. Both sides seem fine with the idea of defaulting all Australians into a huge, poorly-controlled, poorly- protected, poorly curated database of dubious medical benefit. The only way to protect yourself is to opt out at https://www.myhealthrecord.gov.au/for-you-your-family/opt-out-my-health-record

Memorial ferns stolen
Some extra low life person has stolen some Burrawang ferns that were planted in a special memorial section of ground at the Lions Park, Pambula Beach. This dedicated area was developed by a group of people who planted an assortment of native fauna in memory of three young local guys who lost their lives tragically in a variety of different circumstances. This is sacred ground and should be treated with reverence.
The Burrawang ferns that were stolen were grown by Annie’s grandmother with loving care, the seeds take from 6-24 months to germinate and were eaten by the Aboriginal tribes who visited the area. An individual plant can take from 10 to 20 years to mature and can live under the right conditionsfor up to 120 years. They are unique and an ideal specimen to remember the lives that were taken from us.
The person or persons who stole these Burrawang ferns are asked to return them to their rightful location. You should hang your head in shame.

Carols on the Mountain
Carols by Candlelight known as Carols on the Mountain, will be at Magic Mountain, Sapphire Coast Drive Merimbula, on Friday, December 7, at 6pm. This free family event is presented by the Lions Club of Pambula-Merimbula with the expert assistance of Narelle Hetherington.
It will be an evening of wonderful musical entertainment including carols with many local and talented artists performing.
It is again a great pleasure for the Lions Club to be involved in this wonderful event that brings so much Christmas cheer and goodwill to our local communities. We are very fortunate to have such experienced assistance coordinating the artists who will be entertaining us on the night.
Santa will arrive at 6pm for Meet and Greet in the Gazebo for photos and to hand out goodies to the children until 6.45pm. Entertainment will commence at 7pm and during the evening many different artists will appear and there will be plenty of carols so everyone can join in the singing.
Safe, battery operated candles will be on sale at a most reasonable cost and Lions members will be cooking up their usual fantastic barbecue.
So our advice is “put this date in your diary now and enjoy a fun filled evening with family and friends”. This is an alcohol free event.
