Since state government announced $100,000 for the project in August, the Wyndham Progress Association have met with solicitors to develop a five year land lease agreement with adjoining land owners.
The association recently met with the heritage consultant and council to address certain technical issues of transporting the 118-year-old timber trusses to the new display site.
Association treasurer Bob Hunt said the progress of the project has been slow, although is positive the trusses will find their way to a display site close to the bridge.
“The aim of this grant is to see the trusses put back at a display site near the bridge, to get them restored as best as they so can eventually they can be put back on to the bridge where the Wyndham community and tourists can appreciate them,” Mr Hunt said.
“As frustrating as it can be, we are currently dealing with bureaucracies to get over the hurdles thrown at us, hopefully the project will be moving forward soon.”
