The competition’s Spirit Of Cricket Award was taken out by Far South Coast U16 representative player Nic Fantham.
“There were a number of contenders for this award with many players putting the spirit of the game ahead of their own competitiveness,” competition organisers said.
“The winner of this award, Nic Fantham is one of many examples on display during the tournament.
“As captain of the Far South Coast U16s, Nic fielded a ball but noticed that the batsmen has injured himself while running between the wickets.
“Nic then elected to not throw the ball to the stumps to execute the dismissal, instead being more concerned about the batsmen’s health.”
Awards weren’t just for players with Pambula’s Angus Tarpey taking out the Junior Umpire Award.
“After a number of teams sending in positive feedback, Angus Tarpey has been named the junior umpire of the tournament,” organisers said.
“Angus moved to Canberra from Pambula, New South Wales this year to play senior cricket with the Australian National University side in the grade competition, making his first grade debut last weekend.”
