Around 200 swimmers and their families are expected to flood the town over the weekend of January 26 – 27.
Eden is one of three rural towns selected to host the 2019 NSW Country Regional Swimming Meet, each to run on the same weekend.
“Armidale and Wagga Wagga are the other two places, normally the state meets are held in metro areas which can be difficult for kids to get to,” club president Melina Caldwell said.
It is a huge thing for the swimming club, the pool and the town

“There are a lot of kids who live in regional areas who may not get to compete at a state meet, the cost, the travel distance may be too much.”
“Now they will have the chance to compete with the same standard of swimming but in a regional area.”
After dipping into funds for new pool covers last year, Eden Swimming Club are seeking out local businesses to dive in and help make the event a success.
“It is a huge thing for the swimming club, the pool and the town,” Ms Caldwell said.
“We are currently chasing local businesses for sponsorship. Since spending money on new covers for the pool we are financially tight at the moment.
“We are seeking support from businesses in the form of a $50 cash donation or something else to offer for our competitors and their families,” she said.
Swimmers from all over country NSW will make their way to Eden Memorial Pool to compete, the meet will will also provide them with the chance to qualify for the NSW Country Championships and NSW State Championships
“It is a fabulous opportunity to showcase our town and area and we would like to work in conjunction with businesses to ensure those people who have travelled to Eden for this event leave with happy memories of the friendliness and hospitality they have encountered while here,” Ms Caldwell said.
