Dan Barnett was born into music, being the son of the legendary Sydney bassist Cliff Barnett. He began his musical life as a trombonist and quickly developed a love for singing and has since carved out an enviable reputation on the Australian music scene.
Russian-born George Washingmachine has had a vast and varied career in the entertainment business. As a child he trained for seven years as a classical violinist, leaving that behind to form a rhythm and blues band as guitarist, until 1984, when he moved to Sydney and started playing jazz fiddle with The Conway Brothers Hiccup Orchestra.
Peter Locke on piano is a highly respected professional performer with many years of experience having played with the Daly Wilson Big Band, Brad Charles Big Band and John Morrison’s Swing City among others. He was also resident jazz pianist at City Tattersall’s Club, Sydney for around seven years and has backed many of Australia’s top jazz vocalists.
It will be a first visit to the Down South Jazz Club for Mike Walsh on bass.
Cyril Bevan from the UK was house drummer at London’s Talk of the Town for 16 years and for many years was regular drummer for worldwide piano legend, Winifred Atwell. He is an inspiration for young and old and won fans on every performance he made with The Janet Seidel Trio during their UK tour in 2016.
Cost is $15 for jazz club members and $20 for visitors with music commencing at 7.30pm. Bookings can be made with Aileen/Kevin Walsh (64959853), at bookings@downsouthjazzclub.org.au , or will be available on the night at the door.
