The matter has been under discussion for some time after office space in Robert Green’s development near the Merimbula intersection was offered to the MVIC with just fit out costs to pay.
The location is believed to meet with the approval of Merimbula Tourism as it is close to parking areas and would offer a visible and much more modern space.
However the News Weekly understands that fit out costs could be in the order of $80,000 and in the business paper for the meeting on Wednesday, September 19, there is the possibility of $25,000 being offered after government Financial Assistance Grants were increased.
Manager of the MVIC Chris Nicholls is expected to speak to council about the matter.
There are a number of other allocations suggested in the business paper for the extra money including $40,000 for community and events funding. This was money that was taken out of that particular budget earlier.
There is also an allocation set aside of $10,000 for the Merimbula Netball/Basketball project proposal.
An item which could provoke interest from Pambula residents is the disposal of an easement in Merimbola Street, Pambula.
Council has received a request from a developer for council to grant a formal easement for access over a parcel of council owned land in Merimbola Street, Pambula to facilitate future redevelopment of their adjoining land.
The development is believed to relate to the Royal Willows Hotel and a possible supermarket. The owners met with council in June to discuss a proposal for the redevelopment of their land.
One of the council recommendations from the meeting was for the developer to consider using the rear of the site for vehicular access, rather than the Quondolo Street frontage. As a result of that advice, the applicant is in the process of purchasing a further lot to the rear.
