Parkinson Support Group
The Bega Valley Parkinson Support Group held their August meeting at the Bega Golf Club with Martine Mathieson, health promotion officer for the Bega Valley, as guest speaker. Martine gave the group members plenty to think about with her presentation and her many handouts which can help with the lives of people living with Parkinson disease and their carers. Several members plan to follow up with Martine in the hope that they can improve their lifestyle.
The president informed the group that his application for a clubs grant had been successful and that he had received a cheque for $1000 for funds to be used locally where possible. The Pambula-Merimbula lady golfers have also been very generous giving funds raised on special golf days to the group.
Actor Alan Alder has just been diagnosed with Parkinson disease and the support group meeting saw three new members attend, two with Parkinson's disease and a carer. The next meeting at Bega Golf Club, September 3 , 10.30am will have consultant pharmacist Tania Dwyer from Seeto Dodd and Dwyer as guest speaker. Tania always has a powerful message for the group.
